Read HERE about LIEBEration 175, a queer Holocaust history performance art and photography project. Each day, we present the next (at random) of LIEBEration 175 images.
Today, in honor of IDAHO: International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia, we share a series of special actions. # 140 with Santiago is about the power of symbols and the right to a choice of self-identification. For # 116 with Tyler we participated in the awesome Transgeniale march, the much needed community-based alternative to Berlin Pride. And # 142 with Semyon features a 2004 issue of New York City’s Village Voice newspaper with a controversial frontcover quote from the legendary Larry Kramer speaking on death of activism: “You can never not fight back. You can’t give them an inch. So what if they are attacking us? You don’t run back into the closet!” Seeing & reading this was a tipping point in my own “radicalization” and I have kept the cover through all the years and miles/kilometers of my journey into freedom, including Sachsensenhausen.
